(Pooja Pal; Intern Journalist): Agartala (Tripura): Domestic flights have started across the country from today between Coronavirus Lockdown. After Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, Agartala has also refused to operate aircraft.
According to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport officials, domestic flights to Tripura will not be resumed due to the cancellation of all flights from Agartala. Officials said that all the flights from Agartala were connected to Kolkata and Kolkata airport is not available till May 27 due to cyclone Amphan. Due to this, the operation of flights is not possible right now.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Sunday that domestic flights will be launched across the country from May 25. Along with this, he also issued a guideline to all airports for flights. VV Rao, Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, said that at least two flights can be canceled at Kolkata, Mumbai and other places for some reason. He said that they have successfully conducted the inspection and trial run with all stakeholders by evening. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, all necessary steps are being taken for air travel.
To prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the lockdown from March 25, since then all passenger flights across the country were suspended. Domestic flights have resumed operations across the country since Monday, excluding Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
