(Milcah Anila, Intern Journalist) Visakhapatnam / Gajuwaka: A young girl was killed in a love affair. The incident took place at around 9.30 pm on Saturday in Srinagar Sundarayya Colony in Gajuwaka. According to police, Akhil Sai Venkat, 21, of Chittinayudu Colony, was allegedly harassing a 17-year-old girl named Varalakshmi, who had recently completed her inter at a local private college.
On Saturday night he phoned her along with a friend named Ramu and told her to come to Sai Baba temple in the Sundarayya colony. The young girl who came there asked Akhil Sai why he had called her. Seeing the situation there, Varalakshmi phoned her brother and told him to come to the temple immediately. An enraged Akhil Sai cut her neck with the knife he had brought with him.
Fearing that her sister might be met with an accident, He went on a two-wheeler ride with her father Gurunatha Rao. The young woman was seen in a pool of blood on the steps of the temple. Already Ramu had fled. Akhil Sai was caught coming down the stairs and handed over to the police. The girl was rushed to a local private hospital in a car. Doctors confirmed that she was already dead. The main accused Akhil Sai is studying BL at Andhra University.
Another accused Ramu had completed his degree and was vacant, police said. Varalakshmi’s father Gurunathrao runs a local transport office.
