2021 Hyundai Kona Night edition announced

(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): Hyundai has formally unveiled the all-new black-out stylish Kona version. The SUV, christened as Kona Night Edition, is officially only limited to the United States. We should foresee this in other foreign markets, too, eventually. The new Hyundai Kona Night Edition will be sold at Hyundai dealers in the USA in September 2020. The Kona’s limited-edition model has received styling enhancements along with an all-black trim that completely delivers a sporty feel.

The Hyundai Kona Night Edition features a stylish black-out treatment that replaces the stock chrome grille with glossy black shade and colored exterior trim. Also replaced were the chrome stripes on the lower bumpers and the rear tailgate. It also features newly built 18-inch black alloy semi-gloss wheels and black interior door handles. The new limited edition of Kona will be available in three options of exterior color, including Galactic Grey, Ultra Black and Chalk White.

It gets an all-black treatment inside the cabin offering a sporty vibe. The all-black door keys, and so is the dashboards trim. However, when it came to throttle and brake pedal the company restricted its urge to turn everything black.

The new Hyundai Kona Night edition is mechanically powered by the same 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine seen on the regular Kona SUV. The powerhouse is capable of churning out 172.6 bhp with a peak torque of 264Nm. The engine comes coupled with a DCT seven-speed gearbox. In addition, Hyundai is also working on Kona’s performance-oriented model, which has been spotted testing several times.

The South Korean carmaker is only retailing the hybrid variant of the Kona SUV as far as the Indian market is concerned. And it has no intentions to bring the standard edition of the SUV to the Indian market. Yet the next model to be launched from Hyundai’s house in India will be the next-generation Hyundai i20, which is scheduled to go on sale during the festive season.
